Electronic Versions of Pandia Press Publications
I am in the process of evaluating the marketability of e-books and if Pandia Press publications should be offered as e-books through electronic downloads. These would be offered along side print copies with customers having a choice–hard copy or e-book. Electronic downloads offer several advantages for customers and for publishers.
For customers:
- No waiting. Instantly receive your book and use it right away.
- E-books are interactive with live links, bookmarks, and text anchors.
- Worksheets and maps can be easily printed from your desktop. If your child makes a mistake, no problem just print another one.
- E-books are generally less expensive and come with no shipping costs.
For publishers:
- E-books are easily edited. Error corrections don’t have to wait for the next print run.
- Paper and money saved with less printing (hey, that’s one for the environment too).
- Higher profit margins due to less cost of production.
- Affiliate programs.
- No trips to the post office (always a good thing).
- No “lost” packages.
There are a few disadvantages:
- No hard copy to hold and pages to flip through (unless you print it).
- Customer will have to print worksheets and maps.
- Reading off a computer screen can be tiresome.
- E-books are easily pirated and shared illegally with others.
I am also considering offering a seperate Homeschool Tracker file along with each e-book. Homeschool Tracker is popular homeschool scheduling software.
Let your opinion be heard! Please help me with this decision. Do you want to see e-books of History Odyssey and R.E.A.L. Science? Please participate in the poll found in the sidebar.

I LOVE eBooks! I love being able to download them right away, I love being able to print out pages for each boy (I have twins), I love having them online so there is one less book to keep track of, and I love saving money not paying for publication costs. Just my 2 cents’ worth!

Homeschool Tracker would be wonderful! Like you I homeschool (albeit one), manage 2 business’ (my husbands online & retail store, and manage a singer/songwriter), and somewhere in there find time to run a homestead house. Homeschool Tracker Plus is a saving grace for me. Last year I put all the Ancients level 1 lessons in blocks and brought them forward as needed for the week. I loved it. This year I purchased Middle Ages level 1 E-Book. Awsome concept! Keep up the great work.

Please, please more e-books. I wish I’d gotten them from the start. I love being able to print out what I need and no more. No extra binders full of stuff taking up space. I like the homeschool tracker concept. Might have to use it.
